Buying tickets: when and where

Aerobús

Both terminals, every 5–10 minutes, luggage racks and a straight run to the centre. The simplest option with heavy bags.
A taxi runs roughly €35–40 to the centre with a fixed airport supplement, which becomes reasonable for three or four people with luggage.

What is the cheapest way from Barcelona airport to the city?
The R2 Nord train at €2.65, or free if you hold an integrated travel pass. The catch is that it only serves Terminal 2.
Does the train go to Terminal 1?
No. From T1 take the free shuttle bus to T2, then the train — allow an extra 15 minutes. If you land at T1 with luggage, the Aerobús or metro L9 Sud are simpler.
How long does it take to reach the centre?
Between 25 and 40 minutes depending on the mode: train to Sants 25 min, metro 32 min, Aerobús to Plaça Catalunya 35 min.
Is the metro covered by a normal travel card?
No. Line 9 Sud carries an airport supplement, so standard T-casual tickets do not cover the airport stations. Buy the airport single or use the Hola Barcelona pass.
How much is a taxi?
Roughly €35–40 to the centre including the fixed airport supplement, more at night. Use the official rank outside arrivals.
